The iPhone 16e: Apple's "Business Fleet" Phone Arrives

Apple has announced the iPhone 16e at $599/£599 — its new entry point, replacing the old SE. It keeps the modern design and, crucially, the same A18-class chip and Apple Intelligence support as its dearer siblings, with a single (but very good) 48-megapixel camera.
Why the boring iPhone is interesting
Most coverage will call it "the cheap one". Business owners should read it differently: this is the phone Apple built for fleets, teams and sensible sole traders.
- It runs the same AI features — writing tools, transcription, photo clean-up — as phones costing twice as much. The capability gap between "budget" and "flagship" has never been thinner.
- One excellent camera beats three mediocre ones. For invoiceable evidence photos, social posts and the odd talking-head video, it's ample.
- Years of software updates mean a longer, safer service life than bargain Androids — the true cost of a phone is rarely its price tag.
The takeaway
If staff phones are part of your kit list, the calculation just changed: modern AI features and a capable camera at the entry price. Spend the difference on what actually improves your marketing — a microphone, a light, and an afternoon's training on using the thing well.
