Samsung's Ultra-Thin Gamble: the Galaxy S25 Edge
Devices

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S25 Edge: a flagship shaved to 5.8mm thin, carrying a 200-megapixel main camera, and priced firmly in premium territory. It's a statement phone — and a preview of an industry-wide skinny-phone race, with Apple widely expected to answer this autumn.
Does thin matter to a business buyer?
Mostly, no — and it's useful to say so. Thinness costs battery capacity and camera hardware space, the two things working phones actually need. The Edge exists because the slab phone has become impossible to differentiate; "thin" is marketing's answer to a category out of ideas.
What is worth noticing
- The 200MP sensor isn't about printing billboards — it enables sharp crops and lossless zoom, which for one-person marketing means one photo can yield the wide shot, the detail shot and the vertical crop.
- Weight matters more than millimetres if you film handheld all day. Lighter genuinely helps steadiness and fatigue.
- The trend is real: thinner, lighter devices with AI doing more of the photographic heavy lifting is where all flagships are heading.
Buy phones for battery, camera and lifespan. Admire the thin ones in the shop, then buy the sensible one — your customers will never once ask how slim your phone is.
