DJI's new Osmo Action 6 has just displaced its predecessor at the top of the review-site league tables, with a larger sensor and low-light performance that finally makes action cameras usable indoors. Which prompts a question few marketing guides ask: does your business need a camera that can be dropped, soaked and strapped to things?

Who genuinely benefits

  • Trades and site work: clamp it to scaffolding or a helmet and capture the job hands-free — time-lapses of a build are among the most-watched content trades post.
  • Anything outdoors or wet: landscaping, valeting, activity businesses, food trucks in British weather.
  • Vehicles: delivery, driving instruction, plant machinery — mounted views that phones can't safely provide.
  • Point-of-view demos: "here's what I see while I do this" is compelling, teachable content, and only this form factor captures it.

The buying reality

Between DJI, GoPro and Insta360, the market is fiercely competitive around £300–£400 — every current model shoots stabilised 4K that would have embarrassed broadcast kit a decade ago. Buy on battery life and mounting ecosystem, not spec sheets. And remember the rule that governs all kit: the footage only exists if pressing record becomes part of the job routine.
